AMANF (which stands for Association for Support to Neurofibromatosis patients in the state of Minas Gerais) was founded in 2002 by Neurofibromatosis patients and their relatives living in Belo Horizonte, a major city in Brazil. AMANF's associates are those who have Neurofibromatosis, or their relatives and friends, along with health care professionals. AMANF, like other NF support associations in Brazil and abroad, exists to provide support, discuss and exchange experiences about Neurofibromatosis.

We also count with the medical support from two M.D.s: Dr. Luiz Oswaldo Carneiro Rodrigues and Dr. Nilton Alves de Rezende, parents of Neurofibromatosis patients, that also develop research on Neurofibromatosis. Since March of 2005, they work at the Centro de Referência em Neurofibromatose de Minas Gerais (Neurofibromatosis Outpatient Reference Center of Minas Gerais), where patients can receive public (free) medical care, informations and be oriented about NF.

AMANF's meetings are held every last saturday of the month, at 4pm, at the University of Medicine of Minas Gerais: FACULDADE DE MEDICINA DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE MINAS GERAIS (UFMG), Av. Alfredo Balena, 190 - Sala 2006, BH, MG, BRAZIL.
